Day One (9:00 am - 4:00pm, with cocktail hour after)

Chartered Business Valuators: Role of the CBV Expert and Types of Reports


This course explores the essential role of Chartered Business Valuators (CBVs) in Family Law. Participants will learn about the expertise CBVs bring to financial analysis and valuation in legal contexts. The course covers various report types CBVs prepare, including business valuations, income calculations, and contingent costs of disposition. Additionally, participants will learn when to involve a CBV and the range of services they provide, equipping them with the knowledge to effectively utilize CBV expertise in client representation.

Personal Income Tax Returns: A Comprehensive Walkthrough


This course offers Family Law lawyers an in-depth walkthrough of personal income tax returns. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of how to analyze and interpret personal income tax documents, identify critical financial information, and uncover hidden income or assets. The course will cover key tax concepts, common issues in Family Law cases, and practical tips for effectively using tax returns in legal proceedings. This comprehensive training will enhance lawyers' ability to represent clients with complex financial situations.

Executive Compensation (RSUs, Options, Etc.): Valuation Issues in Family Law


This course provides Family Law lawyers with a detailed exploration of executive compensation, including Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), stock options, and other complex compensation structures. The course will cover the unique challenges and valuation issues associated with these types of compensation in Family Law cases. The Basics: How to Read Corporate Financial Statements
