The major Sydenham to Bankstown shutdown for Metro Southwest conversion will begin on Saturday 24 August. The final T3 Bankstown Line train to City Circle via Sydenham will depart Birrong at 12:46am on Saturday 24 August (this is a Friday service in the timetable) and stop at Yagoona 12:48am (all stations to Central arriving 1:27am). This final service is subject to change as Sydney Trains/Metro has not formally announced the date/time of the line closure, however 24-25 August for the 12 month closure of the T3 Sydenham to Bankstown has been listed in RailSafe documents provided internally to rail workers. The temporary transport plan for Sydenham to Bankstown and the new 2024 timetable with the T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown shuttle will be introduced from this date onwards.
