FILMS FOR GAZA: PALESTINE FUNDRAISER DOUBLE BILL

Join us at this solidarity event to help raise money for urgently needed medical supplies for Gazans.

In the West Bank village of Burin, local volunteers are preparing to hold their annual kite festival. Despite fear of arrest or violent retribution, the volunteers hope that through this act of cultural resistance they are able to re-enforce their connection to the land, and bring their country one small step forward towards self-determination.

✨ Freedom to Run (75 mins, dir. Cairsti Russell & Stephen Sheriff)

Palestinians in the West Bank cannot travel more than ten kilometres before being stopped by Israeli restrictions.

Checkpoints, demands for permits, and the apartheid wall surrounding the occupied territories are all part of the struggle of daily life.

Freedom to Run follows the Palestinian running group Right to Movement and a group from Glasgow, as they train for and run both the Palestine and Edinburgh marathons. Whilst in Palestine, the Scottish runners learn about the impact of the restrictions on everyday life, and that something as universal as running is far from an easy task. The runners discover that they are not so different, but that they live very different lives.
