Film Screening: Stand By for Failure – The Negativland Story

Join us for a special screening of Stand By for Failure, a compelling documentary that delves into the groundbreaking work of Negativland—a legendary multimedia collective that has spent over four decades challenging the boundaries of art, copyright, and cultural commentary.

Through their provocative use of sound collage, media manipulation, and live performance, Negativland reimagines mass culture into unexpected forms that inspire, entertain, and question the very fabric of ownership, propaganda, and perception. From infamous lawsuits to influencing copyright reform, this pioneering group has left an indelible mark on art, activism, and media literacy.

This event is presented in collaboration with the Denver Public Library and Collective Misnomer (CM), Denver's premier artist-run project showcasing contemporary sound, video, and performance art. Founded by artist Adán De La Garza, CM has become a vital platform for time-based art, with a strong commitment to supporting queer, women, and BIPOC artists. We are thrilled to announce that this event marks the beginning of Collective Misnomer’s screenings at their new home: 955 24th Street, Denver, CO 80205. Join us in christening this space for boundary-pushing contemporary art.

As a nonprofit, CM relies on community support to bring groundbreaking screenings and events to Denver. For non-sponsored screenings, tickets are $15. Every ticket purchased helps sustain this invaluable non-profit platform for contemporary and experimental art.
