Join us for an exciting new cycle of screenings of contemporary Italian films in the spaces of our Institute! From January to June 2025 we will screen 10 films in Italian with English subtitles by the best contemporary directors.

The next appointment will be Monday 10 February 2025 at 6pm for the screening of: ‘Il Grande Spirito”, directed by and starring Sergio Rubini.

The film tells the story of Tonino, a petty thief always looking for the big catch. When he finds himself with the loot of a robbery in his hands, he’s forced to escape through the rooftops of Taranto. Among these rooftops, an encounter with a strange character takes place between heavenly ascents and ruinous crashes in a land poisoned by factories and infested by the underworld.

The film will be screened in Italian with English subtitles and will be preceded by an analysis of the context and work of the director.

THE DIRECTOR: Sergio Rubini is an Italian actor, director and screenwriter, born in 1959.Extremely likable, capable of triggering hilarity thanks to his expressive skills, Sergio Rubini succeeds in electrocuting the spectator - even in a short role - with his characters, entertaining. But without renouncing an undercurrent of disquiet that always hangs in the heart of this cinema slave.
