This event is collaboration with filmmaker, Ross Killeen, and artist, Asbestos, and the start of a weekend of dynamic and inclusive public programming exploring dementia through art. The event will be part of First Fortnight Mental Health, Arts & Culture programme 2025.
Ross Killeen is a Dublin based director and producer of documentaries. Don’t Forget to Remember is his second feature documentary and it won the audience award at DIFF and had its international premiere at Sheffield Documentary Festival. Killeen also directed the acclaimed Love Yourself Today and 99 Problems which played at Tribeca Festival. Becoming Men was his debut short documentary.
As a prolific Irish artist, Asbestos has been producing street art since 2003, utilising masks to convey narratives and elicit emotions. His works have been displayed worldwide, and he was nominated for “Best International Street Art 2021” for a mural that drew attention to the housing crisis in Ireland. His art delves into society’s fixation with self- image while using anonymity to become more transparent and candid in his creations. By opening up to the public his work starts a conversation with the viewer making their contribution essential to his work and giving them a voice in it.
