Step behind the scenes and learn what it takes to power the magic of movies. This hands-on workshop is built for people with backgrounds in stage production, live events, construction, electrical trades, or independent film — and want to level up for on-set grip and electric work. Led by experienced industry professionals, you’ll get a practical, insider’s look at the tools, safety protocols, workflows, and real-world expectations of working on a professional film crew.
RELATED EXPERIENCE IS PREFERRED! Priority will be given to individuals currently working in a relevant field or enrolled in a technical program — warehouse workers, event production, stagehands, tradespeople, construction workers, electricians, photographers, videographers, military vets with technical roles, and teachers/instructors of the above.
Note: Grip and Electric work is physically demanding and may involve lifting heavy equipment, working at heights, standing for extended periods, and exposure to outdoor elements. Participants should be prepared for hands-on activity and must be physically able to safely perform these tasks.
Attendees must be 18 years of age -OR- a high school senior enrolled in a related education program. Any remaining seats will be opened to those without direct experience.

This two-day workshop (you must attend both days) will feature veteran gaffer Mason McGuire and a team of union film crew members from New Orleans. It will take place at the Shreveport Convention Center on Saturday and Sunday, August 30-31, 2025, from 9am to 6pm. Presented by Prize Foundation (creators of Louisiana Film Prize) with support from Louisiana Entertainment, a division of Louisiana Economic Development.
