Film Photography in the Night – 2-Day Workshop with Carmine Covino

Step into the shadows and explore how black and white film can capture the poetry of the night.

This 2-day analog workshop led by Italian photographer Carmine Covino will guide you through his unique approach to night photography—from shooting on film (135, 120, or large format) to developing it by hand with his distinctive darkroom techniques.

We’ll split the experience into two immersive sessions:

🔹 Day 1: Night Shooting

Walk through Berlin after sunset and photograph with Carmine’s guidance. Learn how to meter in low light, push your film for contrast and detail, and compose for night atmospheres. Any B&W film stock and format is welcome—135, 120, or large format.

🔹 Day 2: Darkroom Developing

Dive into the darkroom at Berlin Photo Studio, where Carmine will guide you through his process of developing pushed black and white film. You’ll learn the chemical flow, contrast control, and creative decisions behind his signature images.

Carmine Covino (Naples, 1989) is an analog photographer with 14+ years of darkroom experience. His work strips urban and human elements to their rawest form—often exploring isolation, intimacy, and the emotional gravity of night. His prints are known for their deep blacks, sharp contrast, and surreal glow.
