Meet the panelists!
Joseph Hernandez:
Joseph Hernandez is currently the Senior Programmer and Director of Community Development of the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. Since its first edition in 2016, he's helped build the festival into a premiere stop on the global genre circuit while shining a spotlight on countless new and established filmmakers. He joined the Austin-based SXSW Film and Television Festival in 2022, where he now serves as an Associate Programmer. Joseph is a co-founder and programmer of virtual fests Nightstream and Reel Love, COVID-era initiatives created to ensure the film festival circuit continued through the pandemic. He also assisted in launching the North Bend Film Festival, a destination genre festival in Twin Peaks land, where he rose to Senior Programmer during a five year stint from 2018-2022. A proud member of SAG-AFTRA, Joseph has been an actor/performer for most of his life. He was born and raised in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn, NY and now based out of North Bergen, NJ.
Deana Bugs:
Deana Bugs is a Puerto Rican multidisciplinary artist + filmmaker from Florida. They’ve been based in Brooklyn and working in the Film Industry for over 8 years across a variety of departments including Editing + Assistant Directing before honing a focus in Production Design. She’s Directed two upcoming horror shorts The Bruja in The Bar + Sprinkles. After spending time working with both high profile clients like A24, Shudder, Netflix and in the Indie Horror scene they bring a well rounded perspective and passion for strange and stylish filmmaking.
Aimee Kuge:
Aimee Kuge is the writer, director, and producer of Cannibal Mukbang. Her credits also include Story Producing for MTV’s Teen Mom, Co-Producing Black Eyed Susan (in Post-Production), and Producing/Assistant-Directing Viral, Like/Subscribe, and The Sheep Remain (in Post-Production). Aimee founded Melty Media in 2022. Melty Media is a New York and New Jersey-based team of freelance filmmakers passionate about creating fresh and evocative films.
