Join us for a showing of 5 documentary films telling inspirational stories of resistance from Africa and beyond! This event will raise funds for Fight Racism, Fight Imperialism in Birmingham.
Film list:
Finding Sally: The incredible story of a 23 year old woman from an upper class family who became a communist rebel in the Ethiopian Revolutionary Party
Concerning Violence: Based on Frantz Fanon's essay from The Wretched of the Earth, the film narrates the events of African independence movements from the 60s and 70s.
Thomas Sankara: 2006 documentary about the Burkina Faso revolution
Claudia Jones: Profile of the Trinidadian communist who founded the Notting Hill Carnival and the West Indian Gazette, a popular Marxist newspaper.
An African Odyssey: The story of Cuba's support for African revolutions.
