Broadway Cinema | Nottingham, EN
Using a range of case studies - including the Saw franchise, Martyrs (2008), Crash (1996) and Happiness (1998) - we’ll navigate the spectrum of extremity in relation to violence, sex, trauma, and taboo. The course will engage with the politics of representation and censorship, encouraging critical reflection on spectatorship, ethics, and affect.
Designed for those with a strong stomach and an open mind, Extreme Cinema is not only about the films themselves, but what they reveal about society, culture, and the boundaries of taste.
