In the 1980s, author slash dreamweaver Garth Marenghi took us to the very Gates of Hell (somewhere over Romford) with his visionary TV series, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. But horror literature has come a long way since then. Has it strayed unforgivably from the path in asking questions more complex but less radical than "what if a rat could drive a bus?"
During this workshop, we'll explore the modern horror-lit landscape, learning to tell the difference between taut, muscular prose, and the ravings of a talentless hack who has read more books than he has written. And what can the One Man Fear Factory tell us about how to write (Subtext Is For Cowards) and how to survive as a creative (Sit At The Typewriter And Start Hitting The Keys)? All this, and participants will also be encouraged to produce short pieces of writing finding their own darkplace.
This course is suitable for those 18+
