Brought to you by Northampton Film Festival, Gaffer Pete Carrier will give you an introduction to lighting for camera. Pete has worked in Film and Television for over 20 years, having trained as an electrician in 1987, then worked in Stage Lighting and the Defense Industry, before starting in Film and Television in 2000.
Pete's Gaffer credits include feature films, television, commercials and corporate content, from Sky’s Portrait Artist of the Year and the July 7/7 Netflix documentary Attack on London to Burberry and Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas. Pete has also worked as an electrician, balloon technician and rigging electrician on films like Fast and Furious 6, Dark Shadows, Jupiter Ascending and Moon. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2294554/
The first 2 hours will cover the basic principles of lighting, an introduction to a range of equipment and working in the industry, as well as also guidance on what to do on shoots if you have access to very little or no lighting kit!
The third hour will be dedicated to your questions, which you can submit before and during the workshop. Then we've left a final 30 minutes of optional networking and chatting, including with Northampton Film Festival. As it's over lunchtime you are very welcome to bring a sandwich! We'll have a standard film tea-table of drinks and biscuits!
The workshop is designed for those of a beginner or intermediate level who are interested in Lighting - you could be a new Director of Photography, a film student, a filmmaker who wants to improve on their lighting knowledge generally, a domestic electrician looking to moving industry, all sorts! - but we are also planning advanced workshops so please get in touch if you're interested in those, or want to ask any questions about the suitability of the sessions. Get in touch via [email protected], on 07930 646721 or via socials.
We will send out emails to all attendees to get to know your needs, level of experience etc and take any pre-workshop questions ahead of the session.
