We are delighted to invite you to join us for the first of three days of a programme of incredible short films from across the African diaspora taking place at SOAS University as part of Film Africa 2025.
The Screening will take place Monday 17th November, 5:30pm at the DLT Lecture Theatre, SOAS University.

This programme will include:
B(L)IND SACRIFICE (Dir. Nakhane)
A family and their servants have spent their lives wandering the land as nomads under the leadership of The Father. One morning, the men ascend a mountain where they make blood sacrifices. but today, things are different, which alters the family forever.
THE HOUSE THAT NEVER SLEEPS (Dir. Sean Mongie)
When a once-prolific novelist, now reclusive and no longer writing, is interviewed by a fan podcaster about his process and his first short story, he must confront the secret behind his prolific work and be reborn as an artist.
GUARDIAN OF THE WELL (Dir. Bentley Brown, Tahir Ben Mahamat Zene)
Amid a historic drought in the southern reaches of Chad's Sahara Desert, a well-goer recalls his lost cattle and contemplates his plans for a change in livelihood.
MATHONGA ELIZWE (Dir. Tsogo Kupa)
Chronicles the poignant stories of Black families still living under oppression on white-owned land in South Africa.
MY BROTHER MY BROTHER (Dir. Abdelrahman Dne)
Perceiving life as something shared by two. Through a split (dual) narrative, identical twins Omar and Wesam, recount their shared memories: from their time in the womb of their mother to the moment they are tragically separated. Written and directed by twin brothers, Saad and Abdelrahman Dnewar, My Brother, My Brother, combines 2D animation with live-action cinematography to chronicle a deeply affectionate and tender narrative about existing without the other.
NOCES D’EAU (Dir. Aurielle Jioya)
Kémi, a Frenchman of Beninese origin, returns to Cotonou after discovering a photo of his family’s former home. Renting it for a weekend with friends, he seeks to uncover his roots. When he rescues a mysterious woman, Angèle, who claims to know his estranged grandfather, buried family secrets begin to surface.
ORO OJOGBON (Dir. Ife Akinmoyo)
The short film, "Oro Ojogbon", a Yoruba phrase meaning a wise man's words captures the counsel and aspirations of one of Africa's greatest leaders. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo gives a message of hope to young Nigerians, who he fondly recognises as the leaders of today.
