Figure & Story: playful life drawing session
About this Event
A half day drawing workshop with artist Alys Scott-Hawkins. Draw from the clothed figure in response to stories, in this playful, structured session.
We’ll warm up by making a series of drawings in which the figure is in action,and then draw the model as a character in longer poses which derive from a short story or poem.
This session is for beginners and experienced artists who are looking for inspiration with visual storytelling. The drawings produced in the session could be the starting point for a graphic narrative, storyboard, illustration or animated sequence.
Paper, charcoal & pencils provided. Please bring along any other materials you would like to use.
Alys is an award-winning artist with 20+ years experience making and teaching drawing. She has an MA in Animation from the Royal College of Art, produced films for Channel 4 Television and UK and international clients. Her work has been shown at 30 festivals across Europe, Asia and North America & South America, and exhibited in galleries including Freud Museum, Vienna, on the Biennale circuit, Venice and at Parasol Unit, London.

Our location: Jo Morley Studio is a ground floor, light-filled, fully-equipped workshop space by the water in Kemps Quay, Bitterne, Southampton (next to the very popular Na's Bar!)
There's parking on-site. It's a 5 minute walk from the bus stop for the no 3, 14, 16 & 18 buses from Southampton city centre.
