About this Event
Five decades ago, a large group of Vietnamese immigrants arrived in the United States and decided to make a home in New Orleans. In this discussion, authors Thi Bui and E.M. Tran discuss the impact this community has made on New Orleans' literary landscape.
Tran's novel, Daughters of the New Year, is the focus of One Book One New Orleans' citywide reading and literacy initiatives. This event is part of a year-long series celebrating the book through discussions, writing workshops, book signings, and more. Immediately following this discussion, a group of local high school students will present their responses to Tran's work.
Free and open to the public; donations gratefully accepted. Donations support One Book One New Orleans' year-round work.
The Andre Cailloux Center for Performing Arts and Cultural Justice is accessible to community members who require mobility-related ADA accommodations. Parking near the venue is free, though somewhat limited. The nearest RTA stop is at N. Broad and Columbus.
