Fifth Annual Great Big Maine Challah Bake

The 5th Annual Great Big Maine Challah Bake is a joyful, hands-on celebration of Jewish tradition, learning, and community. Hosted by Rimon, the JCA’s initiative dedicated to nourishing Jewish women’s lives through connection, learning, spirituality, and celebration, the event welcomes women and girls ages 10+ from across Maine to gather together and make challah.
Whether participants are experienced bakers or making challah for the first time, everyone receives the materials and guidance needed to create their own challah from start to finish. Alongside baking, participants engage in meaningful conversation and Jewish learning about the mitzvah and traditions surrounding challah, creating an experience that connects an ancient Jewish practice with contemporary Jewish life.
Now entering its fifth year, the Great Big Maine Challah Bake has become a beloved annual opportunity for Jewish women and girls to gather across generations, congregations, backgrounds, and levels of Jewish observance. At a time when opportunities to experience Jewish joy and belonging together are especially meaningful, the Challah Bake creates an accessible space where participants can strengthen existing relationships, make new connections, and experience Jewish tradition collectively.
Proceeds from the Great Big Maine Challah Bake support Rimon programming throughout the year, extending the impact of this gathering beyond a single afternoon and helping the JCA continue creating opportunities for Jewish women to connect, learn, celebrate, and build community.
