Fifteen Steps for Maternity & Neonatal at Saint Mary's Oxford Road

Have you had a baby recently, or are you pregnant and using care at Saint Mary's Hospital Oxford Road?

👣 We are inviting parents and parents-to-be to come with us on a gentle walk around the maternity and neonatal units. You will be with the local Maternity & Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) team.

Your views will help us understand what it feels like to use these services 💬

🎁 What you’ll get from coming

• 💬 A chance to share your views and be listened to
• 👀 See parts of the maternity and neonatal units you may not normally see
• 🤝 Help staff understand what matters most to families
• 🌱 Be part of improving care for other parents and babies
• 🥗 Lunch and help with travel or childcare costs

🧡 We really want to hear from you if you:

• Are Black, Asian or from a mixed ethnic background
• Are LGBTQ+ 🌈
• Are neurodiverse
• Have a disability
• Or don’t always feel listened to

📍 What will happen on the day

• 🕤 9:30am – Meet at Saint Mary’s maternity unit (Oxford Road)
• ☕ 10:00am – Short chat about the day with tea and coffee
• 👥 Walk around the units in small groups (3–4 people)
• 👀 Look at how the space feels: welcoming, clear, clean and safe
• 🗣️ Share your thoughts with staff
• 🥗 Lunch is included
• 🕑 Finish by 2:00pm

💷 Help with costs

• We can pay travel and parking costs
• We can also help with childcare costs if needed

👶 Bringing your baby

• Babies in slings are welcome 🤍
• Pushchairs and prams can’t come on the walk
• You can leave your pram in the meeting room

Info: Meet inside the main doors to Saint Mary's in the foyer area. Look out for MNVP staff wearing purple who will greet you.

Info: We will briefly explain the purpose of the day, what we would like you to think about as you walk around the unit and things to look for.

Info: We will divide into small groups of 3-4 people and walk around approximately 3 different areas of the maternity and/or neonatal unit per group.

Info: Lunch will be provided so please let us know your dietary requirements when you register for your place.

Info: Group feedback session where we share what we observed in each area that was good and any ideas for improvements.
