In celebration of Asian Heritage Month in the month of the May, Fiesta Asia is showcasing selected works of Fiesta Asia festivities by Jeff Malet.

This series of photo collection is drawn exclusively from Jeff Malet's documentation for more than 10 years. Since 2006, Fiesta Asia has been offering a unique and unforgettable experience every year through an exciting array of programs & activities including street fairs, movie fest, performing arts showcase, art exhibits, fashion program, tasting extravaganza. musical concerts and many more.

Our focus is always our people . Through this exhibit, you will see the diversity and beauty of each and everyone that has contributed their soul and shared their talent to preseve their culture and promote our heritage.

ABOUT FIESTA ASIA

Nineteen years ago, we founded the first National Asian Heritage Festival in the Nation’s Capital because we saw the need to celebrate the richness of Asian Heritage and to bring diverse communities and people together. We branded it, Fiesta Asia.

Our aim is to share, celebrate, and promote the diversity of Asian heritage and culture through the arts, traditions, education, cuisine, and way of life. We firmly believe our efforts through arts and culture can unite communities, connect people, create economic & social growth, and foster deeper cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.

Fiesta Asia Street Fair brings together over 1000 performers + artisans + entrepreneurs + organizations to create the festivities that are enjoyed by over 30,000 visitors. It is truly an amalgamation of the diverse Asian cultures and heritage.

ABOUT JEFF MALET

Jeff was always the man-on-the-scene in Washington. Whenever there was a parade, bike race, festival, protest, tennis tournament or dance performance in town, Jeff had his camera and telephoto lens ready. He was always on hand to pitch in with stories, ideas and observations.

Jeffrey was an accomplished photojournalist and photographer who settled in Washington DC after a successful career as a recognized securities portfolio manager for over twenty years. His work was published in local, US, and international magazines, as well as online. He was a regular contributor to the Georgetowner Newsletter and a credentialed photographer on Capitol Hill. Just some of the publications his work appeared in include: The Washington Post, The New York Times, NBC Nightly News, ABC News, Bloomberg, NPR, USA Today, Good Housekeeping and much, much more.

Jeff was also the family historian and photographer, compiling an ancestral chart and filming most family events. Most essentially, Jeff was an integral part of the Fiesta Asia Family for many years. He truly captured the essence of our art form, culture, spirit, passion, enthusiasm and love of what we do. Thank you Jeff for all that you have gifted us. We will miss you dearly, Jeff.
