Trip/area Description: An early morning walk at the ~20,000-acre Fort Drum Wildlife Management Area exploring various natural communities. The hike is around 2.5 miles, however, there is a beautiful boardwalk through a cypress slough about ½ mile from the parking area that you can stop and explore instead of doing the full hike, which will loop back around to the boardwalk.
Duration of trip: 3.5 hours
Walking distance (if applicable): 2.5 miles
Degree of difficulty: mostly easy-to slightly moderate. Please bring water and a protein bar if needed.
Where to meet: Parking area at the gate at Fort Drum. Please use Google maps to get an idea of the location of Rt. 60. Contact me if you have any difficulty locating the area.
Time of meeting: 7:00 am
