Vouchers for Veterans Field of Honor, hosted by the City of Rochester, will for the 4th year put Heroism on Display on the Rochester common beginning May 25th and running through Memorial Day May 27th. The Field of Honor is 550 8 foot flag poles each flying a 3’ x 5’ American Flag. Attached to each pole is a yellow silk ribbon and a laminated card displaying the name, branch, rank and insignia of the Veteran being honored. Approximately 275 of the flags are dedicated by businesses and organizations for NH and ME veterans who died in action protecting this great nation. The remainder of the flags are purchased for veterans of your choosing, living or deceased. The unforgettable sight is sobering and moving with thousands of visitors coming each year to pay their respects. There will be a Memorial Day ceremony following the Rochester Memorial Day Parade. Rochester American Legion Post 7 will have a short ceremony followed by our guest speaker Retired Brigadier General Donald Bolduc. Each evening at 7:00 pm taps will be played followed by bagpipes.
