The St. Patrick’s Week Ceilidh on Friday, March 17, 2023 in the Katherine Hughes Memorial Hall in theIrish Cultural Centre at 582 North River Road will feature award winning island folk music group Fiddler’s
Sons, featuring Eddy Quinn, John B. Webster and with guest Fiddler Steven Perry.
There will be a 50/50 draw during the evening at the air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible and licensed
hall. Doors open at 7, show starts at 8. Admission price is $15 at the door. Children twelve and under
remain at $5.
Eddy is the lead vocalist as well as playing guitar and Bodhran. He has released two solo albums for
which he has received four PEI Music Awards. Of particular note is that in 2017 the band marked the
anniversary of twenty years in the music business with the release of a compilation album of their most
requested songs. Fiddlers' Sons: The Best of Twenty Years contains 22 selections written and performed
by the band members that explore Island life and its people.
John B. Webster is the group’s lead guitarist and back up vocalist. John B. grew up on the Station Road
in Cardigan. From an early age he was interested in music and his home was always filled with it. His
father Jackie was a fiddle player and his grandfather Jack had a band called “Jack Webster’s Orchestra”
which played all over Kings County and was extremely popular in their time. He met Eddy Quinn at
guitar lessons in Lorne Valley and the rest is history. John has done quite a lot of writing on the five CD’s
Fiddlers' Sons have released over the years.
Steven Perry is a fiddler from West Prince. He comes from a musical family, and notably is the uncle of
popular Island musician, Keelin Wedge. He has toured extensively, and has played with such greats as
Harry Hibbs, country mega star Shania Twain, Tommy Hunter and Stompin Tom Connors just to name a
few.
For twenty two of their twenty-four years together, Fiddlers' Sons have been playing their brand of
grassroots music to packed houses at The Benevolent Irish Society.
For more information call Kathy at 902-314-8840. The hall will be at capacity for this popular group, so
reserve early to make sure you get a seat.
