Choreographer - Joe Y. Mora
Fiddler on the Roof has endured the test of time, due to it’s strong themes of family, tradition, and the difficulty of love. Each character is unique, and has multiple layers. Tevye, is both loud and stubborn, and a soft hearted girl dad. Golde keeps control of a big household, while at the same time being soft enough to mother well. Each girl has a strong independence while also trying to protect the tradition they were raised in.
These thoughts should be well considered when auditioning for Fiddler. The production team seeks to see depth of character above all else.
Dance: Should have a basic knowledge of dance and movement. No formal dance audition.
Singing: Sing a 16-24 bar cut of a song from a classic Broadway style show (ie the Sound of Music, Les Miserables, Fiddler) that best represents the character you're auditioning for or in the style of the show.
Please have a recorded instrumental backing track.
Tevye: If auditioning for the role of Tevye please prepare both of these songs using the links below:
“If I were a Rich Man”
“Sunrise, Sunset”
Be prepared to read sides from the script alone and with fellow auditioners.
Any video submissions should go to [email protected] and be submitted by July 19th. No exceptions beyond that date.
