Celebrating traditional music, the Northshore Traditional Music Society (NSTMS) presents Fiddle Week 2024 - a three-part series of workshops and concerts featuring masters of Irish, Jazz and Cajun fiddling.
Monday’s concert will feature the music of internationally celebrated Irish fiddler, Gerry O’Connor accompanied by one of our area’s most talented practitioners of Celtic and folk music, Kendall Rogers.
On Tuesday, sought after New Orleans based artist Matt Rhody will present a Jazz fiddle program with the help of another accomplished New Orleans musician, guitarist Leo Forde.
On Wednesday, fiddler Anya Burgess will present a program of Cajun fiddle with the help of another well-known ambassador of the Cajun music and culture, Christine Balfa.
The Fiddle Week 2024 Series will be held at the Faith Presbyterian Church, 16330 Highway 1085, Covington, LA 70433. Workshops will be conducted on location by each artist from 3:30-5:00 PM on the day of their concert. Concerts, formatted to invite audience engagement with the music, will begin at 6:30 with a 45 minute performance and finish with a 45 minute session or jam facilitated by the featured artist.
Those interested can register to participate in workshops by visiting nstms.org. Payment for workshops ($25) will be taken by the artist/clinician. Tickets for concerts may be purchased at BonTempsTix.com. General Admission is $20 per concert or $50 for the series. Northshore Strings Fiddle Camp parents may purchase tickets for $15 per concert or $35 for the series.
