Our book group is open to all. Attend every meeting, occasionally or just once in your life. All we ask is that you read the book in advance and take part in the discussion. There’s a short introduction by a member of staff, a group regular, or someone we know with a special interest in the book in question. This is a casual group discussion, there is no author or presentation.This month we will be discussing John Steinbeck’s 1952 family saga ‘East of Eden‘.
East of Eden brings to life the intricate details of two families: the Trasks and the Hamiltons. The Hamilton family in the novel is said to be based on the real-life family of Samuel Hamilton, Steinbeck’s maternal grandfather. A young John Steinbeck also appears briefly in the novel as a minor character.
