Fascinated by the process of turning fibre into yarn? Join us for a workshop - you will be introduced to processing alpaca and sheep fibre, ready to learn how to spin on a drop spindle and on a wheel, or for peg loom weaving. This course will teach you to process the sheep wool, straight from shearing. You will begin by preparing the fibres for weaving and learn how to wash and straighten the fibres using a hand carder and heckle combs to create “Batts” and “Rovings” and blends for colour and fibre mixing. Learn to process fleece from the time it is shorn, through "scouring" (cleaning), "carding" and "combing" (processing).
