Uncover the hidden beauty in overlooked fragments of the world around us. Together, we’ll explore the delicate art of fibre fusing — layering silk and wool fibres with threads, found natural treasures, and upcycled materials to weave stories into textile art.
Feel the joy of blending colours and textures, letting your intuition guide the making of a piece that is uniquely yours — a tactile expression of memory, nature, and imagination. No experience is needed, only your curiosity and open heart. I’ll gently guide you through each step of the fusing process.
This workshop is $80, all materials are provided. Maximum of 10 participants.
Event will be held at The Laneway Artspace, Bayswater (rear of 5 King William Street)

Ayako Goto was born in Japan and moved to Perth at the age of 12, where she developed a deep connection to Australia’s people and landscapes. She is a Japanese-Australian artist working with fibre, found materials, and textiles. Her practice explores memory, place, and connection through slow, meditative processes. She incorporates upcycled fragments—such as inherited silk kimono, fish scales, scrap threads, and fabrics—into textured, layered surfaces that reflect both personal and cultural histories. Drawing on her heritage and life in Australia, Ayako weaves past and present, creating works that speak to belonging and quiet beauty. She lives and works in Bayswater, Perth.
