FiberWorks Workshop: Gayle Williams
About this Event
Learn how to make monoprints on fabric and paper using the gelatin plate printing technique.
A gelatin plate is primarily used to create images picked up on paper. The results are ‘monoprints,’ that is, unique images created that one time. Acrylic paint is applied to the plate to create simple or complex layers of design with masks, stencils, stamps and any other tool that creates mark-making.
Fabric can also be used to pick up designs from the gelatin plate that will again be unique prints. Fabric prints can be used to add to quilts, shadow boxes, or any other textile application. There’s a great deal of satisfaction in sourcing one’s own material to use in textile arts!
