FEVERISH: An Ekphrastic Exhibition | Opening Reception

Feverish invites ten artists to collaborate in a reciprocal ekphrastic exhibition that initiates a conversation about the power of personal obsessions, the illusion of control, and the intensity of dreams. The artists are anonymously paired, one visual and one literary, to create original work that invites the viewer to investigate the alluring absurdities of our dreamscapes, engage in the experience of the uncanny, and reimagine the relationship between beginnings and endings. Exploring the visceral and intellectual aspects of both our personal and communal narratives and experiences, this exhibition challenges our preconceived notions about possibility and reality, freedom and control.

Feverish is inspired by “Fever” by Congolese-born, South African poet Sarah Lubala, who writes, “The tongue also is a fire,“ suggesting that our stories, our experiences, and our dreams have the power to set assumptions, expectations, and boundaries ablaze.
