Welcome summer, the French way - with music. Fete de la Musique brings FREE music to all parts of the world each year on June 21st to celebrate the first day of summer. The holiday began in Paris in 1982 and has since become a global holiday. In Miami, Fete de la Musique is celebrated as Make Music Miami - find the full schedule online. At the Bandshell, we will feature chillout grooves from French-Brazilian DJ/producer Ella Romand. She is joined by some special guests, and we will also feature French wines and snacks. The evening starts off with Miami's homegrown Brazilian-style batucada percussion ensemble, Miami Bloco.

French Brazilian DJ, producer, composer and pianist Ella Romand combines the rhythms of Brazil with deep and melodic house music rhythms. She has spun at South Florida's hottest clubs, as well as at New World Symphony as part of their Pulse series. Her electronic grooves will be supplement with live music from her friends and collaborators like vocalist Emi Garth, and French trumpet player/guitarist Vincent Raffard.

The night begins with Miamibloco. Miamibloco is a community-based batucada (Brazilian percussion group). The group not only teaches and performs traditional samba, but also incorporates a wide variety of grooves that reflect the diverse musical cultures of Miami. Directed by Brian Potts, Miamibloco was born out of a love for samba and bloco styles, as well as the important sense of community that is inseparable from the music itself.

Fete de la Musique 2021 is presented by Rhythm Foundation and Cultural Service of the Consulate General of France in Miami, in partnership with Make Music Miami. Support is received from France Florida Foundation for the Arts and Alliance Française Miami, as well as the City of Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council and Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs.
