Festive Rattle Making Workshop

Welcome to the Festive Rattle Making Workshop happening in Forest Hill, South East London on Sat 6 Dec 2025 at 1:30 PM.

Join us for a fun-filled afternoon where you'll get to create your very own unique rattles!

This special edition will have festive themed rattle shapes and colours if you want to go there. If you want to go traditional then you can find your own style. We'll be in a creative flow.

No experience necessary - just bring your creativity and enthusiasm.

Join our get together and enjoy a hands-on crafting experience.

This is a fun relaxed session where you can get your creativity on and enjoy creating your rattles. Everything will be fully explained and there will be on hand support if you need it at any point.

You'll be taking 2 rattles home!

And as rattle making is a 2 part process -

Part 1: You'll be creating your rattle from scratch - choosing your own shape and then taking it home to harden and complete it at home.

Part 2: You'll be completing a premade rattle that you will add in the sound and any additional decorations you choose. And give you the skills, experience and guidance so you can complete your other Rattle in a few days once it's hardened.

Bring:

A stick for the rattle you'll make yourself. (make sure it feels good in your hand and isn't to heavy, long or big to shake.) You'll receive more details about this on booking.

Sounds - a small handful of anything you'd like to put in your rattle to make the rattle sound. (eg. pulses, small stones, crystal chips, small shells, small pieces of resin or incense that are hard.) Use your intuition to find things that resonate with you and your intention for your rattle.

Beads/Feathers (optional) - If you'd like to add beads or feathers onto your rattle.

What's provided:

Animal hide to cut and create your rattle.

Sewing equipment, tools and materials to create your rattle.

A premade part made rattle - that you will finish.

Some bits and pieces to put in the rattles that you can add to your own collection of sounds if you wish.

Your Rattle Making Guide:

Emma Hewitt is a drum and rattle maker. Emma has been a shamanic crafter for over 4 years and holds Drum Making Workshops in South East London.

After many requests Emma is hosting this Rattle making workshop for the third time.

Do come along if it's calling you - it would be wonderful to have you with us.

Refreshments:

A few refreshments tea/coffee & light snacks will be provided. Dairy and gluten free options will be available. If you have anything that you'd like please bring it with you.

Please have lunch before you arrive.

Travel:

The venue is about 10 min walk from Forest Hill Train Station on the Windrush and National Rail line. Please check transport as sometimes lines aren't running at the weekend.

Parking - there is plenty of free on street parking on Sunderland Road outside the venue.

There are limited places on this workshop - just 8 spaces - book soon to grab your spot.

Ticket sales end on Thurs 25 Sept - to ensure sufficient materials for all participants.

Refund Policy:

This workshop will enable you to create your own rattles, and is for personal use only.
