Festive Baking Masterclass (December)
About this Event
Come and enjoy a fun, festive morning of baking with our Food Education Manager Sue. Learn to make a showstopping bûche de noël, with edible chocolate leaves and mushroom meringues! You’ll also learn to make delicious Cinnamon buns. This masterclass will take place at the Cyrenians Flavour and Haver Cook School from 10.30 to 2pm on Saturday 5th December.
During the morning you will learn to make a traditional bûche de noël (Yule Log!), complete with showstopping decorations, that will demonstrate a range of baking tricks and techniques. You will also learn to make spiced cinnamon buns, perfect for those cold winter mornings!
You’ll leave with plenty of baked goodies to take home, as well as extra decorations to use for the rest of your festive bakes! During the morning, we’ll provide you with a light lunch to enjoy whilst you bake.

About our Cook School Events
The unrestricted funds raised by our events allow us to provide the resources and opportunities to support participants at our Cook School on their food journeys, sustaining the skills and confidence they gain with us here, and beyond. Since the beginning of the year, we’ve provided over 50 cookbooks and ingredient-based gift bags to participants in our Food Preparation and Budgeting Skills 6-week course. In addition, our weekly Lunch Club has served over 500 free, three course meals so far this year, and continues to support our pledge that good food and good company to share it with, are key to a public health approach to homelessness prevention. Thank you for choosing to participate in an event that makes a difference, so that everyone can experience the benefits of cooking and eating together, regardless of finance, confidence or ability.
