Festival of Politics: Who's Minding the Machines? AI, Media & the Public
About this Event
Artificial intelligence is changing the world at extraordinary speed. But who is really in control? From the news we read and the information we trust to the jobs we do and the decisions being made about our future, AI is already having a profound impact on everyday life.
So, should we be excited, worried or a bit of both? Can we trust what we see and hear? Who is regulating this rapidly developing technology, and what happens when the machines get it wrong?
Chaired by Chris Donoghue, broadcaster, host of the State of Affairs podcast and former special adviser to Simon Coveney, the conversation brings together Theo McDonald, Senior Producer at Web Summit and current affairs commentator; Elaine Burke, award-winning technology journalist and host of the For Tech's Sake podcast; and Paul Hayes, founder and CEO of technology communications company Beachhut.
Bringing together perspectives from technology, journalism and communications, this promises to be a lively and accessible discussion about one of the biggest changes facing society, and what it means for all of us.
Over 18s only. 16 and 17 year olds welcome when accompanied by an adult.
