Det er med stor glæde, at Fotografisk Center inviterer til åbningen af kunsthallens store 30-års jubilæumsudstilling 30-års jubilæum: Et center for fotografi med værker af 12 danske og nordiske kunstnere. Udstillingen vises i perioden den 28. august – 8. november 2026.
Ferniseringen finder sted torsdag den 27. august kl. 16-19, hvor der er gratis adgang for alle og gratis bobler til de første 100 gæster. Flere af de deltagende kunstnere vil være til stede.

Om udstillingen:
De deltagende kunstnere i udstillingen er: Krass Clement (DK), Angelica Elliott (SE), Marianne Engberg (DK), Jakob Hunosøe (DK), Sophia Kalkau (DK), Noah Umur Kanber (DK), Rosaline Ben-Baruch Lange (DK), Finn Larsen (DK), Jenny Lindhe (SE), Jukke Rosing (GL), Emma Sarpaniemi (FI) og Lars Tunbjörk (SE).
Fotografiet er et medie, der kan bevæge sig inden for mange genrer og kontekster. Dette afspejler jubilæumsudstillingen, der skaber forbindelser mellem forskellige tider, typer af fotografi, værker, kunstnere og fotografer. Udstillingen favner mangfoldigheden og den store spændvidde i det fotografiske medium, samtidig med at den viser, hvordan kunsthallen gennem tiden har været et center for fotografi, hvor mange forskellige kunstnere og fotografer har udstillet.
I 1996 blev Fotografisk Center grundlagt som en forening af Københavns Kommune og Kulturby ’96 for at fremme kunstfotografiet i Danmark. I dag, 30 år senere, er Fotografisk Center en af de eneste institutioner tilbage i Danmark, der er dedikeret til at udstille og formidle samtidens fotografi.
Udstillingen udfoldes gennem tre tematikker, der bygger på en række særegne aspekter ved det fotografiske medium: Æstetiske kameraværker, Performative fremstillinger og Virkelige fortællinger. Dertil præsenteres i udstillingen et udvalg af Fotografisk Centers arkivmateriale, der giver indblik i kunsthallens historie de seneste tre årtier.
Udstillingen udspringer af Fotografisk Centers aktuelle forskningsprojekt Det dokumentariske kunstfotografi (støttet af Ny Carlsbergfondet i 2023-2026) i samarbejde med Københavns Universitet, hvor ph.d.-studerende Oscar Vindel Schönström går historisk til værks og undersøger udviklingen hos fotografiske udstillingsinstitutioner i Danmark og Sverige siden 1980’erne, herunder Fotografisk Center. Udstillingen er kurateret i et tæt samarbejde med Schönström.

I forbindelse med udstillingen udgives et rigt illustreret katalog på 240 sider, designet af de prisvindende grafiske designere Spine Studio. Kataloget udfolder udstillingen og Fotografisk Centers historie gennem forskellige tekster og en lang række fotografier. På åbningsaftenen er det muligt at købe kataloget til en særpris á 100 kr. (normalpris 150 kr.).
I løbet af udstillingen afholdes en række events. Alle events afholdes på dansk og er gratis at deltage i efter betalt entré til udstillingen:

Samtalen modereres af professor i fotografistudier ved Københavns Universitet Mette Sandbye

It is with great pleasure that Fotografisk Center invites to the opening of its 30thanniversary exhibition 30th Anniversary: A Centre for Photography with works by 12 Danish and Nordic artists. The exhibition is on view from 28 August – 8 November 2026.
The opening takes place Thursday 27 August from 4-7pm with free entrance for everyone and free bobbles for the first 100 guests. Several of the participating artists will be present.

- 4.30pm: Director at Fotografisk Center Signe Kahr Sørensen gives the welcome speech and PhD student Oscar Vindel Schönström introduces the exhibtion
- 4.45pm: Maria Frej (SF), member of the Culture, Leisure, and Citizen Services Committee in the City of Copenhagen, gives the opening speech of the exhibition
- 7pm: Thank you for tonight
About the exhibition:
The participating artists in the exhibition are: Krass Clement (DK), Angelica Elliott (SE), Marianne Engberg (DK), Jakob Hunosøe (DK), Sophia Kalkau (DK), Noah Umur Kanber (DK), Rosaline Ben-Baruch Lange (DK), Finn Larsen (DK), Jenny Lindhe (SE), Jukke Rosing (GL), Emma Sarpaniemi (FI) and Lars Tunbjörk (SE).
Photography is a medium capable of spanning a wide range of genres and contexts. The anniversary exhibition reflects this by drawing connections between different periods, forms of photography, works, artists and photographers. It embraces the diversity and extraordinary breadth of the photographic medium while demonstrating how Fotografisk Center has, throughout its history, served as a centre for photography, exhibiting the work of a great variety of artists and photographers.
In 1996 Fotografisk Center was established as an association by the City of Copenhagen and Copenhagen ’96, European Capital of Culture, with the aim of promoting art photography in Denmark. Today, 30 years later, it is one of the few remaining institutions in Denmark dedicated especially to exhibiting, communicating and raising awareness of contemporary photography.
The exhibition unfolds through three themes, each based on a distinctive aspect of the photographic medium: Aesthetic Camera Works, Performative Representations and Stories from Everyday Life. It also presents a selection of material from Fotografisk Center’s archive, offering insight into the institution’s history over the past three decades.
The exhibition also draws on Fotografisk Center’s current research project, Documentary Art Photography (supported by the New Carlsberg Foundation, 2023–26), undertaken in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen. As part of the project, PhD fellow Oscar Vindel Schönström takes a historical approach to the development of institutions exhibiting photography in Denmark and Sweden since the 1980s, including Fotografisk Center. The exhibition has been curated in close collaboration with Schönström.
