Fermentation 101
Over this two day course, unlock the ancient, transformative power of microbes at The Fermentary. Fermentation is a way to turn simple ingredients into complex, fizzy, and tangy masterpieces. In this hands-on session, we’ll move beyond the basics and show you how to harness "good bacteria" to elevate every meal.
Day 1 (9:00AM - 1:00PM): Introduction to Fermentation concepts, including fermented veggies (krauts), preservation (honey ferments), and backslopping (yogurt)
Day 2 (9:00 - 1:00PM): Learn how ferments develop, two-step fermented drinks (kefirs and kombucha), and all about SCOBYs

The Crunch: Master the art of the perfect, probiotic-rich Sauerkraut.
The Fizz: Learn the secrets of Kombucha and perform a secondary ferment on Water Kefir to create custom carbonated flavors.
The Sweet: Craft a versatile Honey Syrup to brighten your beverages and dressings.
The Demo: Watch a live Yogurt-making demonstration and discover how to use "waste" products—like tasting a delicious loaf of bread baked with Acid Whey.
