Femke Smit quartet - Bossa nova revisited live at Donau115
Amoy Ribas - Percussion · Tino Derado - Piano · Jeroen Vierdag - Bass · Femke Smit - Vocals
Classics by Jobim and João Gilberto, but also hidden gems by Toquinho, Baden Powell and Vinicius de Moraes.
Femke Smit (1986) is from the Netherlands but sings Brazilian music as if she was born there. Maybe it was another life, maybe it's pure coincidence, but when she sings Brazilian music she feels at home. With her several projects (o.a. Cantorias, Roda da Holanda and a duo with pianist Mike del Ferro) she brings an important contribution to the Brazilian scene in the Netherlands. With her vocal group Cantorias she won an Edison, one of the biggest music prizes in The Netherlands, in 2024. Her abundant appearance and inviting and moving way of singing Bossa Nova and MPB make Femke a singer who really takes you with her on a musical journey. Surrounded by excellent musicians, this will be a night to remember.
