For our fourth feminist movie night, we'll be watching "Portrait of a Lady on Fire" by Céline Sciamma.
Released in 2019, this French historical romance drama tells the story of a passionate love affair between two women in 18th-century France. Directed by the talented Céline Sciamma and starring Noémie Merlant and Adèle Haenel, the film has garnered critical acclaim for its stunning visuals, poignant performances, and exploration of female desire and identity. Notably, this marked Adèle Haenel's final film role before her retirement from the French film industry in 2023.
