Sweet Joséphine next book club session will be held on the 2nd of December 2022 at CID Fraen an Gender. Meeting time 7pm.
While Elon Musk tries to save the world by proposing a democratic way of solving the war in Ukraine to his 107,7 millions of followers, we propose to question how political power is exercised in our societies. With the support of "Women & Leadership” book, we would like to discuss the role of women in politics and especially female leadership.
Women make up less than 10% of national leaders, demonstrating an unequal access to leadership positions. The authors Julia Gillard, the former prime minister of Australia, and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the first African women to lead the World Trade Organization as Director-General, explore gender bias in politics and how sexism affects perceptions of women as leaders.
The authors look beyond glass ceilings and explore hazards such as the “glass cliff” or “glass labyrinth” illuminating the challenges women face on the journey to political leadership.
