A unique concert by a unique musician!
About this Event

An exclusive evening of Indian music by the internationally acclaimed German singer Cass Mae in concert with Shri Rajarshi Sengupta (mandoline) and Shri Mainak Banerjee (tabla).

The event will include a welcome address by Ambassador of India to Germany, Shri Harish Parvathaneni followed by a concert of Indian classical, devotional and fusion music and an intimate reception.

The visually-impaired German singer-songwriter, CassMae (Cassandra Mae Spittman) started her musical training at age 3 as a means to orient herself. Already an accomplished pianist and percussionist, in her teenage years Cassandra found herself so captivated by Indian music that she became entirely immersed in it and now sings in multiple Indian languages including Sanskrit, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Assamese, Bengali, Marathi, and Hindi. She's won several awards and accolades including the national songwriting contest at the Berliner Festspiele and the UK Songwriting Contest and performed with international artists including Maritri Garrett, Taylor Moore, Tom Bowman, Cleveland and Billy Kent nationally and internationally, as well as at the Jahresempfang of Jürgen Dusel (Commissioner for the Disabled/German parliament).

In 2023, CassMae was recognised by the honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi in his monthly radio program, Mann ki Baat. She has since then visited India and performed for the honourable Prime Minister as part of a private audience.

With her unique style of interplaying contemporary Western elements with traditional Indian classical and spiritual music and lyrics, CassMae’s music is a rare and dynamic representation of bilateral cultural cooperation.

The event at the Tagore Centre, Embassy of India presents a unique opportunity to witness CassMae live in concert as part of the Female Voices of India concert series which celebrates 30 years of the Tagore Centre and the Indian Council of Cultural Relations in Germany.
