About this Event
Hear some of our Fellows talk about the exciting research and incredible stories drawn from the Library’s vast collection.
In this panel talk, hear from Summer Fellows Phillip Bartlett, Eloise Reddy and Bronwyn Rennex as they speak about their research. Their research projects are, respectively: an artistic response to the contents of the bottom drawer of Governor Macquarie’s Collector’s Chest; a creative essay exploring the intersection of community, trauma and place in contemporary Australia; and examining the First Fleet journals and letters of Lieutenant Ralph Clark through a poetry lens.
Phillip Bartlett has had a long professional career as an economist, with particular expertise in planning and urban development. He is currently a student at the National Art School. Phillip is also a Summer Fellow at the Library, exploring Governor Macquarie’s Collector’s Chest.
Eloise Reddy is an award-winning interdisciplinary researcher, emerging writer, academic, and urban and cultural planner. She is also a practising visual artist and musician known for weaving her creative practice into her scholarly work. A Summer Fellow at the Library, she’s researching the intersection of community, trauma and place in contemporary Australia.
Bronwyn Rennex is a writer, artist and arts professional, whose work revolves around pictures and words. She has worked for many years in the cultural sector and is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Newcastle. A Summer Fellow at the Library, she's writing a poetic response to the Library’s Lieutenant Ralph Clark collection.
Richard Neville (host) is the Mitchell Librarian at the State Library of NSW. A graduate of the University of Sydney, he has particular expertise in early Australian art, including printmaking. He is the author of Mr JW Lewin: Painter and naturalist (NewSouth, 2012).
