Celebrate community, gratitude, and the joy of movement at Feelin’ Thankful Fest, a vibrant day of rhythm, dance, and music! This event is not just about having fun—it’s also about supporting a beloved member of our community. We’re coming together to help Nevada County’s own John Carlisle, a talented custom carpenter, as he embarks on a challenging journey of recovery after tragically breaking his back and almost severing his spinal nerve at the end of May. Let’s show him the strength of community while enjoying an incredible lineup of activities and entertainment!Event Highlights
Percussion & Drum Class (3:00–4:00 PM): Find your rhythm in this hands-on session with Kerry the “Shakerman.” No experience needed—just let the beat guide you and feel the magic of hand drumming!
Congolese Dance Class (4:15–5:15 PM): Class led by Lisa McVay, that will put a roll to your hips and a smile on your lips! All bodies and abilities welcome
Live Music to Groove the Night Away
Dasty Island (5:45–7:00 PM): Hawaiian Reggae vibes infused with positivity and feel-good beats that will have you swaying in no time.
Papiba & Friends (7:30–10:30 PM): A dynamic mix of Brazilian Funk Rock that blends soul, funk, samba, and rock into an unforgettable performance.
Food to Savor: Enjoy the delicious Thai flavors of Thai Chic Street Food, available from 5:00–9:00 PM.
Why Join Us?
This event is all about coming together to celebrate life’s simple joys—our health, movement, and connection—while giving back. John Carlisle has spent over 30 years building homes and dreams for others, and now we have the chance to support him during his recovery.
How to Participate
Admission is free, but we encourage a donation of $15–$30 (or more) per adult to support John’s recovery and the artists making this possible.
