Feedback Forum

Join other members of The Craft Coven to discuss our work as a supportive and caring group of creatives. Presenting artists will be cut off at a maximum of 6 presenters so that we can provide a solid 15 minutes of feedback to each artist. Presenting artists will also receive a full recap of the feedback provided, so no need to take notes during your 15 minutes of time.

PRESENTING WILL START AT 4PM ON THE DOT. Please arrive early, parking can be tough, public transportation gets you almost to our front door. I'll have the doors open by 3:30pm so come get settled in with a bevy before we start

Note that these first few events will be held in the Coven studio and we can only accommodate smaller works. The ideal presenters will have 2 or 3 dimensional pieces that we can place on a 6 foot table for attendees to view from all sides. You are welcome to bring easles to setup on the table, a table cloth is optional. We are not yet equipped for video work (a projector is coming soon!) Auditory/ musical work can be played if already uploaded to a website or played from an emailed file. Presented work must be able to setup and breakdown in 5 minutes or less between presenters. If you have a more complicated setup please email ahead of time and we will confirm whether or not we can accommodate. If attending: Never been to a crit or similar event before? This is a great trial step for you! Feel free to come and just watch, understand the format and come back with feedback for the next event. If you're looking for a way to more thoughtfully talk about art in general- this is a first lesson for you, and your host will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Please keep your comments to constructive and informative feedback rather than only personal likes and dislikes.
For example instead of saying 'I really like your painting, and would definitely hang it in my home' you could say 'I'm drawn to the bright colors and representational forms. I hang mostly modern art in my home and this piece would fit right into the theme'
Please don't take up too much of the artists time with your feedback. It is most helpful for makers to hear a range of different opinions and thoughts so that they can best form their next steps based on the feedback that resonates best with their goals. An ideal response takes up less than 2 minutes of time then sesedes the floor to any other comments.

About your Host:
Cassie Jones is a multidisciplinarian artist as well as the leader of The Craft Coven. Recently her personal work ranges from 2 dimensional watercolor, embroidery, ink, papermaking, and acrylic painting as well as 3 dimensional fired clay, fiber arts, textile installations and leatherwork. Cassie graduated with a double major in Accessory Design and Fiber Arts from The Savannah College of Art and Design in 2010 and has over 15 years of experience working in varying fields of art and creative education.

About the Location: The coven studio is located in the heart of Old City in a below ground storefront. There are 10 steps down to get into the space, and our ceilings are not very high. Anyone over 6'4" will have watch their head until they have a seat. Any more questions about accessibility-please reach out!
