YOUTH AGES 6 - 24 ARE WELCOME!

🌟 This upcoming Saturday, we are kicking off a special workshop series sponsored by Harris County Case for Kids and a few other sponsors during our YIIP and SIIP Winter & Spring Break 🌟

As we pause our regular Youth Industry Innovation programs (YIIP and SIIP) for the Winter and Spring until April 2025, we have something special lined up for the interim.

Thanks to the Harris County Department of Education Case for Kids, we're offering a free monthly series of unique design thinking workshops this winter and spring.

February 22nd- Tech Pioneers: Designing Smart Solutions for Emerging Markets

• Learn about challenges and opportunities in emerging markets and use design thinking to create appropriate tech solutions.

March 29th Visionary Builders: Prototyping the Future

• Build and refine prototypes that bring your solutions to life through lego STEM kits, focusing on practical functionality and user experience.

Workshop Overview: Global Visionaries: Crafting Smart Solutions for Emerging Markets

This innovative workshop is designed for youth eager to apply their creativity towards addressing the unique challenges faced by emerging markets. During this session, the students will dive into the complexities of technological adoption in third-world countries, exploring both the opportunities and obstacles these nations encounter.

Session Goals:

Understanding Global Challenges:

• Introduce students to the diverse technological landscapes of emerging markets.
• Discuss the specific challenges these countries face, such as infrastructure deficits, resource limitations, and socio-economic barriers.

Design Thinking Application:

• Employ the design thinking process tailored to the context of emerging markets.
• Guide students through the steps of Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test to develop thoughtful, applicable solutions.

Collaborative Solution Development:

• Facilitate group activities that encourage teamwork and collective problem-solving.
• Students will work in teams to brainstorm and prototype innovations that cater to the needs of third-world countries, focusing on sustainability and accessibility.

Peer-to-Peer Learning and Leadership:

• Enhance communication and leadership skills as students engage in peer-to-peer learning and group presentations.
• Encourage students to take initiative and lead discussions on potential technological solutions.
