Join Wes Homoya—native Hoosier, avid birder, experienced guide, and passionate conservationist—for another quarterly installment of everyone's favorite local birdin' 'n boozin' brew bus benefit bash, as we explore nature and enjoy quality adult beverages together.
We'll meet and begin our adventure at 1 p.m. ET at Ash & Elm Cider Co. in Indianapolis for a welcoming guided tasting and chance to buy carryout libations for the roadtrip (consider bringing your favorite thermos to fill with hot mulled cider! Both locations also have growler specials on Sundays!).
We’ll then drive up to the beloved Eagle Creek Ornithology Center, where we’ll tour the taxidermy displays, bird viewing areas, informational exhibits, and raptor enclosures, as well as enjoy an up close educational program featuring Freyja the Peregrine Falcon, the fastest animal in the world!
Afterwards, we’ll venture towards the airport to one of Indy's newest beer purveyors, Hermann Brewthers, for drinks and further merriment, before returning downtown to arrive back to Ash and Elm around 5 p.m., where everyone is invited to continue hanging out, get something to eat, and of course drink more delicious cider and chat all about birds until you're ready to head home.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring binoculars if you like/have them (we will have a limited amount available for those without them, and on this tour we will mostly be looking at birds from a very close range anyways, though you never know what we might see on the reservoir or loitering around the parking lot!). Whether you've never been birding before or consider yourself an expert, you are most welcome!
Bottled water and cups will be provided on the bus. The cost is $45 per person, with all profits benefiting the Indiana Audubon Society and the Eagle Creek Park Foundation. This event is open to those age 21 and older.
