Fearless Public Speaking
About this Event
Fearless Public Speaking
Guided Group Hypnosis in Downtown Toronto (to join virtually, please refer to the FAQ)
A guided group hypnosis session designed to help you reduce public-speaking anxiety, think more clearly under attention, and communicate with greater confidence and composure.
You may know your subject well and speak comfortably in ordinary conversation—yet feel entirely different when you have to stand up, turn on a camera, or address a group.
Your heart races. Your breathing changes. You become intensely aware of your voice, hands, face, and every word you say. Instead of communicating naturally, you begin monitoring yourself from the audience’s imagined point of view.
This session is designed to help you interrupt that pattern.
Using guided hypnosis, you will practise experiencing an audience as a group of people who are ready to listen—not as a threat, a test, or a tribunal.
This session may be especially helpful if you:
- Feel anxious before presentations, speeches, meetings, or panels
- Worry about blushing, shaking, sweating, stumbling, or losing your words
- Avoid speaking up even when you have something valuable to contribute
- Become overly self-conscious when attention is directed toward you
- Fear making a mistake or appearing foolish
- Rush, speak too quietly, or rely excessively on notes
- Feel confident one-to-one but uncomfortable addressing a group
- Want to become more visible and persuasive in your professional life
What to Expect
The session begins with a brief introduction to the psychology of public-speaking anxiety. Participants may suggest situations they would like addressed, such as workplace presentations, meetings, interviews, networking, panels, wedding speeches, online presentations, or speaking without extensive preparation.
You will then be guided through a shared hypnosis experience centred on ideas such as:
- Attention from an audience does not mean that you are in danger.
- You do not need to eliminate every physical sensation before you can speak well.
- Your audience generally wants you to succeed and understand what you have to say.
- You were asked to speak because your knowledge, experience, or perspective has value.
- A pause, imperfect sentence, or forgotten word does not ruin a presentation.
- You can direct your attention toward your message rather than constantly evaluating yourself.
- You can speak to the engaged people in the room and draw confidence from their attention.
- Confidence develops through allowing yourself to speak—not through waiting until you feel perfectly confident.
The aim is not to turn you into a theatrical performer or someone with a completely different personality. It is to help you communicate as clearly and naturally in front of an audience as you already can in a more comfortable setting.
What "Fearless" Means
Fearless speaking does not necessarily mean feeling no nervous energy at all.
It means being able to feel some activation without interpreting it as catastrophe. It means remaining present, remembering that the audience is on your side, and continuing to communicate even when the experience is not perfectly controlled.
The goal is not perfection. It is composure, connection, and the freedom to say what you came to say.
Who Can Attend?
No previous experience with hypnosis or public-speaking training is required.
You may attend with a particular presentation or situation in mind, or simply work on becoming more comfortable being seen and heard. You will not be required to give a speech or disclose personal information to the group.
Each session stands on its own. You are welcome to attend once or return regularly to reinforce the ideas and apply them to different speaking situations.
Why Morpheus?
Morpheus founder Luke Chao once experienced severe public-speaking anxiety himself. During a school presentation, his hands shook so intensely that he could barely read his cue cards.
Today, public speaking is a regular and enjoyable part of his professional life. That experience helped shape the clinic’s practical approach: public-speaking confidence is not simply a personality trait that some people possess and others lack. It is a learnable mental and behavioural pattern.
