Join FBC Seattle and Birds Connect Seattle for a spring morning outing at Discovery Park, where we’ll combine looking for newly-arrived migrants with an engaging discussion led by BCS Conservation Director Joshua Morris on new data analysis on bird populations in our Seattle parks.
Drawing from 18 years of Neighborhood Bird Project data, we’ll explore changes in local bird communities, with a focus on declines among insect-eating birds and the potential causes behind these patterns.
OUTING INFO:
Starting at the we will follow an approximately 1.5-mile route through a variety of habitats, with a particular focus on meadows. Along the way, we’ll stop to observe birds, share insights from the data, and discuss what actions we can take to help our local bird friends. Comfortable walking shoes, water, and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. It is spring in Seattle, so be prepared for sun or rain!
Accessibility: some wide, paved trails and some narrower, packed dirt trails. Minimal incline or decline, though the group may use one long set of stairs (no-stair bypass available). There are no benches or restrooms beyond the parking lot on this route.
This outing is limited to 30 people. By attending, all participants agree to follow our .
