Wednesday-Night Comedy at Tall Boy Boca RatonLooking for something fun to do in Boca Raton on a Wednesday night?Fazzingo’s Comedy Showcase brings a rotating mix of working professional comedians, regional headliners, and emerging South Florida performers to Tall Boy for a structured stand-up showcase followed by an open mic. This week’s performers bring very different styles to the stage:
  • A 6-foot-7 bilingual one-liner comedian
  • A New York comic known for cerebral, sardonic observations
  • A ten-year comedy veteran who has opened for major national headliners
  • A South Florida crowd-work competition champion
  • A New York-born comedian and producer behind sold-out Delray Beach shows
  • A fast-talking, street-smart Brooklyn-born host
Tall Boy is located on NE Spanish River Boulevard near the Florida Atlantic University area, making the show convenient for Boca Raton residents, FAU students and staff, couples, coworkers, hospitality workers, and comedy fans visiting from Delray Beach, Deerfield Beach, Highland Beach, Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and surrounding Palm Beach and Broward County communities. You could spend Wednesday night watching short comedy clips alone on your phone.Or you could watch six comedians perform live—close enough to see what happens when a planned joke meets an unpredictable Boca Raton audience. That is where things get interesting.

Meet the Comedians
🎤 Headliner Grant ToliverAt 6 feet 7 inches tall, Grant Toliver does not need much help commanding a stage.Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Toliver graduated from Indiana University with a psychology degree before moving to South Florida in 2018 and beginning his stand-up career. He performs in both English and Spanish, combining compact one-liners, dark comedic turns, self-deprecating observations, and direct audience interaction. Toliver has compared his joke-driven approach to performers such as Rodney Dangerfield, Dave Attell, Daniel Tosh and Anthony Jeselnik, while still building his own perspective around height, relationships, cultural differences and his experiences adjusting to life in Miami.Toliver produces and hosts the recurring Miami comedy show Gringo Grant and Friends and has performed at venues including Dania Beach Improv, Miami Improv, Palm Beach Improv, Just the Funny and Teatro Trail. His performances have taken him into comedy clubs, theaters, bars, private events, roasts, and even a few unconventional spaces where a comedian with a portable sound system and a willingness to work can create a show.He has shared bills with national performers including Marcello Hernández, Esther Ku, Ahmed Ahmed and Kyle Grooms. His bilingual material and transition into South Florida comedy were also profiled by FIU’s Caplin News.Toliver’s style is particularly well-suited to Tall Boy’s intimate setup. He can move from carefully written one-liners to crowd work, making everyone feel like they're part of the show.

🎙️Featuring Brian Coronado
Brian Coronado is a South Florida comedy veteran with more than a decade of experience performing across ten states and three countries. Born and raised in South Florida, Coronado is a former hockey player, University of South Florida graduate, and longtime salesman who describes himself as a comedian, writer, and future cat lady. His comedy is sharp, subversive and unapologetically cynical—summed up on his official website with three words: satirical, sarcastic and sardonic. Coronado has worked regularly at the Dania Beach, Miami, Palm Beach and Wellington Improv locations and has appeared at venues and events including Don’t Tell Comedy, Boca Black Box, Off the Hook Comedy Club, Laugh In Comedy Cafe, Sadman Comedy Cafe and the Laughing Spree Comedy Festival. His opening and supporting credits include an impressive list of nationally recognized comedians:

  • Anthony Jeselnik
  • Gilbert Gottfried
  • Matt Rife
  • T.J. Miller
  • Jeremy Piven
  • Kyle Kinane
  • Orny Adams
  • Erik Griffin
  • Che Durena
  • Duncan Trussell
  • Affion Crockett
  • ISMO
  • Sam Tripoli
  • Jimmy Shubert
  • Angel Salazar
  • Steve Hytner, known for playing Kenny Bania on Seinfeld
Coronado has also competed in Florida’s Funniest Comedian, bringing the same veteran timing and darkly comic point of view that has made him a familiar performer throughout the regional scene. He returns to Tall Boy with years of road experience and plenty of material about work, relationships, hockey, cats, and the general questionable condition of humanity.
🎭 Guest Comic Jared SteinJared Stein brings a New York comedy sensibility to the Tall Boy lineup. Now active on the Florida comedy circuit, Stein has performed at Miami Improv, the Fort Myers Comedy Festival, Broadway Comedy Club and the legendary Comic Strip in New York City. His stand-up takes a sharp, analytical look at dating, nightlife, party culture and the increasingly strange rules of modern social behavior. Rather than simply retelling everyday experiences, Stein looks for the absurd logic hiding inside them. His style has been described as sardonic and cerebral, with tightly constructed observations delivered from the perspective of someone who notices the contradiction in a situation before everyone else has finished accepting it as normal. Recent appearances have included comedy showcases across South Florida and Central Florida, including a featured August 2026 booking at Cristy B’s Comedy Club in Daytona Beach alongside Brian Coronado and Ryan Panucci. For the Tall Boy crowd, Stein brings the polished perspective of a comic who has worked both New York stages and Florida comedy rooms.

🎤 Guest Comic PoodaPooda Alfred, known onstage simply as Pooda, brings high-energy delivery and fearless audience interaction to the August 26 showcase. Active throughout the South Florida comedy scene, Pooda has performed in Broward and Miami-Dade County comedy showcases, including events in Pompano Beach, Homestead, and other independent rooms across the region. His most notable recent distinction came through the Comedy Olympics, where he competed as a crowd-work specialist and emerged as the event’s Grandmaster Champion. Crowd work is one of stand-up comedy’s least predictable skills. There is no fully rehearsed script when a comic starts talking directly to an audience member. It requires quick listening, confidence, timing, and the ability to turn an unexpected answer into something the entire room can enjoy. That makes Pooda particularly suited—in the best possible way—for a close, interactive venue like Tall Boy. He has also developed his own live-event presence through Pooda’s Outta Pocket Comedy Show, creating additional stage opportunities and bringing comedy audiences together in Pompano Beach. If you sit close to the stage, understand that Pooda may notice you. Actually, he probably will. Laughter will ensue!
🎭 Guest Comic Melissa JadeMelissa Jade Weisman, also known as The Classy Comedian, is a New York-born stand-up comedian and comedy producer now based in South Florida. Melissa began performing stand-up while living in New York, later spent time in Los Angeles, and then brought her comedy and production experience to the Palm Beach County scene. Her comedy makes a mockery of everyday life through the perspective of a woman balancing relationships, social expectations, ambition, and the occasional demands of a chihuahua whose bedtime may arrive before the show ends. Melissa is also the producer and recurring host of Behind the Curtain Comedy Show, presented at Radcliffe’s Speakeasy inside The Wine Room Kitchen & Bar in Delray Beach. The series has developed a record of sold-out performances, with Melissa booking multi-comedian lineups and creating a polished comedy experience built around food, drinks, and an intimate speakeasy environment. That producer’s background gives her a broader understanding of live comedy. She knows how to read a room not only as a performer, but also as the person responsible for making an entire show work. On August 26, she steps away from her own production and joins Fazzingo’s lineup at Tall Boy.
🎙️ Hosted by Johnny FazzingoJohnny Fazzingo, the Brooklyn-born, South Florida-based comedian behind Fazzingo’s Comedy Showcase and Open Mic, hosts and produces the evening. Johnny brings his fast-talking, street-smart Brooklyn perspective to the stage, warming up the audience, introducing each performer, and keeping the show moving from one distinctive comedic voice to the next. After getting his start through the Panzeca Approach Comedy Workshops at Sadman Comedy Cafe in Boca Raton, Fazzingo quickly became an active performer and producer in the South Florida comedy community. Fazzingo’s shows have appeared at venues including Tall Boy, Holloway’s Irish Pub, Tipperary Irish Pub, Uncle Kimmy’s Bar, and American Legion Post 222, giving both experienced performers and newer comedians more opportunities to work in front of live audiences. As host, Johnny manages the lineup, the timing, and the crowd. As a Brooklyn comedian, he is also fully prepared to manage anyone who begins heckling after two drinks and decides they should have been booked on the show.

Showcase Followed by a Boca Raton Open MicThe night does not end when Grant Toliver finishes his headlining set. Following the scheduled showcase, Tall Boy’s stage opens to comedians for the Fazzingo’s Comedy Open Mic. The open mic gives audiences a chance to watch comics develop new jokes, test fresh ideas, and occasionally discover—at the exact same moment as everyone else—that a premise needs more work. For aspiring and working comedians, it provides valuable stage time in front of a real public audience.✍️ Open-mic sign-up begins at 8:00 PM.

🎙️ The open mic takes place after the scheduled showcase. Comedians should arrive early to sign up and confirm performance details with the show organizer.
