The Canadian Centre for Men and Families is the nation’s hub for boys, men, fathers and families. As a registered mental health and social service charity, we work for a healthy future for men, boys, and their families, by filling critical gaps in men’s services that reduce male suicide, strengthen fathers undergoing separation and divorce, and help men heal from trauma. We support, empower and advocate for boys, men, fathers and their families before, during and after a crisis, in a courageous, open, welcoming and inclusive environment. We believe that when men are supported to live their best lives, everybody benefits.

Our programs and approach to engaging with our clients are grounded in these guiding principles: compassion, belonging, and agency for men. These programs equip men to manage stressful situations, rebuild themselves, and minimize the chances of escalating to an acute mental health crisis.

About the Family Shelter

The Family Shelter for Fathers and Children is Canada's first emergency residential facility for all male identified victims of domestic abuse and family violence, and their children.

The Family Shelter opened on the first day of spring, March 21, 2021. Since that time, over 600 resident families have been welcomed into our emergency residence. Men and children have found safety and have been supported as they heal from trauma, find new employment and opportunities, and transition into permanent, safe housing.
