FAT POSITIVE CLOTHES SWAP - Plus size 16+ / Large upwards

Come join us for a fabulous clothes swap event catered to sizes 16+ and Large upwards! Bring your gently used, pre-owned , pre- loved clothes and swap them for some new-to-you treasures. It's a great way to refresh your wardrobe without spending a penny. All Genders Welcome .See you there!

Increasingly there are limited options for the plus size community / those with larger bodies to purchase clothing instore and participate in that clothes shopping experience..

As a result clothes shopping for Plus sizes largely takes place online and due to non standardised sizing , several items often need to be purchased in order to try and obtain a suitable fit. Consequently many of those unsuitable items returned to retailers , which are mainly fast fashion ,tend to end up in landfill adding to environmental issues.

Although many Clothes Swaps exist they often state all sizes and body shapes are welcome, they often have limited choices above a size 16 / Large.

Whilst The Fat Positive Clothes Swap does not set out to have the answers to solve this issue. It does provide a safe space specifically for Plus size / larger bodies to reuse , recycle and rehome preloved items in order to update your wardrobe without spending money and is kinder to the planet. All Genders are welcome.

The Swap provides a safe space for attendees to discuss and share their lived experiences as Fat / Plus size / Larger bodied individuals and any form of actual or potentially threatening , abusive , harassment or discriminatory behaviour or language will not be tolerated . Individuals will be challenged and potentially asked to leave.

Having been involved with the Swaps in one capacity or another for over 10 years , I will shortly be handing over the running jointly to Suzen and Sarah. I wish them all the best.

Please speak to the Organiser or volunteers who will all be wearing lanyards if you have any queries on the day

Clothing will be placed on tables in dual sizing for rummaging and selection..

Whilst a Token system is not in place , all attendees are expected to self police and only take reasonable amounts of items. Anyone found to be abusing this system will be spoken to by the Organiser or their small team of volunteer .

Clothing will be topped up throughout the event to ensure a fair selection for all.

It’s fine if you wish to attend but do not have any / minimal items to swap as there is usually quite a lot of stock and most attendees would prefer items were recycled / reused / rehomed rather than ending up in landfill.

Although you are permitted to bring along a larger number of items than at most clothes swaps , Please only bring something you'd be happy to receive or pass to a friend. PLEASE REMEMBER QUALITY RATHER THAN QUANTITY.

• A selection of Cakes will usually be available for sale.
