WINNER! ‘Best UK Live Stand-Up’ UK Comedy Awards
Since stepping into comedy, Andy Askins has meticulously crafted a reputation as a unique and distinctive talent. He's become a sought-after headliner at the UK's major comedy clubs and corporate events, earning admiration from both audiences and fellow comedians alike.
His expertly crafted routines are masterpieces littered with an eclectic mix of offbeat original comic songs and parodies. If a Panda and Chuck Norris ever had a child, it still wouldn't match Andy Askins' efficiency at disarming people. You never quite know what he is going to say or which way it’s going to go, it could be a story, a one liner, a song or even a poem! His setup lines rival most people's punchlines, and watching him perform is an absolute blast.
Beyond his comedic prowess, Andy is a talented musician with a captivating voice. He brilliantly twists popular songs into hilariously perverse renditions. His darker material, delivered with a wickedly dry sense of humour, gets sweetened by his innocent and mischievous demeanour, effortlessly holding every audience in the palm of his hand. The inventive and quirky songs, complemented by inspired patter, showcase his impeccable timing and inimitable modest, self-deprecating style.
Today, Andy stands tall (5’5’) among the finest names in live comedy, both in the UK and internationally. His brand of humour resonates universally, charming audiences across the globe—from Switzerland to the Caribbean, Belgium, UAE, Mumbai and from Hong Kong to Tokyo.
Askins is also a firm favourite with the Armed Forces, having entertained troops on several tours on Naval ships in ports around the world, as well as military bases in conflict zones like Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Sarajevo, Italy, Falkland Islands, Indonesia even Somalia! Due to his dedication Andy was also one of a very select group to be awarded the ‘Afghanistan campaign medal’ a testament to his contributions which included several tours to soldiers operating on the frontline.
He's no stranger to the festival scene either, having graced prestigious events such as The Edinburgh Comedy Festival with his show “The Man With No Name”, Adelaide International Comedy Festival, Perth Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival with his show “A Little Brit Special”, Galway Comedy Festival, Altitude Comedy Festival in Mayrhofen, Austria and more across the globe.
On TV screens, Andy appeared at The Hackney Empire forThe John Bishop Show (BBC1)alongside a stellar line-up & was then invited back to perform onThe John Bishop Christmas Showat The Lyceum Theatre alongside music icons like Kylie Minogue and Olly Murrs. Having recorded TV performances for Comedy Central and featuring on two series of‘Live The Comedy Store’,two series of''The World Stands Up'’ and also on BBC Scotland’s, ‘Comedians at the Kings’ tv series, Andy has solidified his status as a seasoned and versatile entertainer & has performed alongside the likes of Michael McIntyre, Lee Evans, Jason Manford, Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr, Micky Flanagan, Harry Hill, Rhod Gilbert, Bill Bailey, Gina Yashere, Jim Jefferies and Jack Dee.
